Having said that, the main chef somehow doesn't keep you waiting too long if its busy.
I'd recommend getting some of the cheap entrees to bide time. If you're hungry then you'd best get in early to avoid waiting as there are only two staff out the back cooking, with the lady out the front helping out with kitchen duties whenever she is free. Doesn't bother me one bit, but if you're looking for something fancier then you'd best go to into town for that. There is also a comfy looking couch behind the counter for the little fella to play games on while his parents are working. One of the tables has a power point right at table height, you could probably charge your phone while eating which is a bonus. The decor is standard suburban Chinese – plastic tables and cheap chairs. So if it ain't on the menu, it would seem that it doesn't hurt to ask. I have also noticed this one regular customer there who likes to order stuff that isn't on the menu, I spotted some lobster, oysters and other things that I have no idea what to call. There are takeaway combo deals as well to save you on ordering time and money. Most of the items are between the $15 and $30 mark, coupled with the decent serving size makes it a pretty good value proposition.
The menu is standard Chinese fare for the like – stir fries with the usual sauces, noodle soups, roast meats.
But if you've ever been to Hingston, Ming Court, Diamond Kitchen etc, you'll know that there are a lot more these places than first meets the eye. The windows are covered in some seriously heavy duty security screens and big steel bars, which I'm not sure if they are used to keep criminals out or lock diners in. Typical of the genre, they're located in the middle suburbia in a run down looking building. I'm always on the lookout for low key corner shop Chinese takeaway/restaurants and Golden Star in Wagaman is my latest conquest.
